HWM: Can you tell us more about your new LoVo memory?
Ann: Our HyperX LoVo products target mainstream performance users who are looking to cut down on power consumption but doesn’t necessarily target the enthusiast and performance-level overclocker market since it defeats the purpose of making them low voltage in the first place. While we have announced some new HyperX 2.4GHz memory modules, these target the performance users more. In my opinion the 1.3GHz memory modules are more than enough for most mainstream users. This may change in a few more months.
HWM: How about this new H2O memory?
Ann: About our watercooled HyperX H2O products on the other hand, they will target the performance crowd. Obviously the price will be higher due to the heatspreader but this is related more to the frequency for the models. There might be a possibility that we will come out with triple-channel products for this product range but for now they will remain dual channel.
HWM: How is your new HyperX Blu memory positioned?
Ann: About our HyperX Blu memory modules, these products will be targeted more at the type of users who use to use KVR (Kingston Value RAM) in particular those looking to get the most bang out of their buck for product. For performance users and hardcore overclockers, we would still recommend our standard HyperX memory modules as we don’t want our users to be confused by the new models.
HWM: Do you plan to introduce SATA3 SSDs?
Nathan: For now all of our SSD products remain SATA2. However, we do have plans to introduce SATA3 SSDs next year. We will begin the introduction with our V+ series products but this time frame could change as the speed of integration of SATA3 increases or decreases from other industry players.
HWM: Any plans to add USB ports or LED to your SSD like some makers have?
Nathan: While we do have the Kingston SSDNow upgrade kit which includes a USB connected external hard disk drive enclosure we have no plans to incorporate USB ports directly onto our SSDs. For the overclockers we have no plans to insert an LED into the SSD directly and for the general mainstream market we will continue to create SSD kits that are easier and easier to install.
HWM: Do you plan to move to USB3 anytime soon?
Nathan: About our products in general we intend to move completely from USB2 to USB3 by Q3 or Q4 of next year but it really depends on the demand for it. We will have more tie-ins for our USB flash memory devices and storage like our current A-Team dog tag like USB flash memory devices to keep our products fresh and trendy.
HWM: How’s the plans for your SDXC memory cards?
Nathan:: For our SDXC products we find that the market is still not mature. So while our SDXC products are available, we don’t see the price decreasing all that much in the near future. When your digital cameras and other devices fully support SDXC flash memory, that’s when Kingston’s SDXC products will be more available.
